River clean-up #214 l Sg Keroh

by haramakers

After a short week of pause, we were back by the river today, and it felt good to be on ground again.

Today wasn’t just another clean-up. It was a day shared with 15 students and their lecturers from @universiti_malaya_wales , showing up together, learning together, and getting their hands into the reality of our waste problem. There’s something powerful about seeing young people step out of classrooms and into muddy riverbank, not just to observe, but to act.

And the river told its story through what we collected:

Metal: 0.392 kg
Fabric: 15.27 kg
E-waste: 0.41 kg
Plastic: 23.77 kg

Total waste removed: 39.842 kg

What stood out today wasn’t only the numbers, it was the awareness forming in real time. The conversations between students while sorting. The small moments of realization when they saw how much of what we throw away still holds weight in the environment. The quiet teamwork that builds without needing instructions.

These are not just clean-ups. They are spaces of exposure, reflection, and gentle transformation, especially for young people who will shape what comes next.

Grateful to everyone who showed up today. Step by step, piece by piece, we keep working towards a cleaner river and a more conscious community.
