Support our community upcycling work

by haramakers

When we first started working with upcycled plastic, people often asked us: “What can waste really become?”

Today we received quiet but powerful answer.

A heartfelt thank you to Puspanita Negeri Selangor for their support of our community upcycling work.

They didn’t just receive our products, they took the time to add a simple floral touch that elevated the presentation of the bags. A small gesture, but it changed how the work was perceived in that moment: more considered, more presentable, more ready for a corporate setting.

Behind each bag is a straightforward process. We collect discarded plastic, sort and clean it, and channel it into production through training programmes with women from lower-income communities. The focus is not to glorify waste, but to reduce it, and to create a practical pathway where materials are recovered and people can earn income through skilled work.

This is what a working material recovery system looks like in practice: waste diverted, skills built, and products that can enter institutional and corporate supply chains.

We are grateful for this collaboration with Puspanita Selangor, and for recognising the work at both material and human level.

To corporates and institutions: if you are exploring how to meet your ESG commitments in a way that is operational, not just symbolic, we are open to working together.

Let’s move from intention to action, and build systems that reduce waste at scale while creating real community participation.
