This morning, we were joined by 36 students and 3 teachers from @payfong_middleschool_melaka , who set off as early as 6am to meet us here in Kuala Lumpur for a river clean-up.
They travelled across state lines, gave their energy, got their hands dirty, and stayed curious. After the cleanup, they visited our upcycling studio at PJ Eco Plaza, made time for some sightseeing in KL, and then headed back to Melaka, all in one day.
And what a day it was.
Together, we collected 40.281 kg of waste from the riverbank and surrounding area. Here’s what that looked like:
Plastic: 14.558 kg
Diapers: 7.294 kg
Fabric: 4.41 kg
Mixed Waste: 3.898 kg
Wood: 5.186 kg
Metal: 2.182 kg
Ceramic & Glass: 2.335 kg
E-waste: 0.418 kg
