At Hara Makers, our mission goes beyond environmental sustainability—we’re committed to empowering individuals and transforming lives through the power of upcycling. By turning waste into opportunity, we provide training, employment to underprivileged communities. Every product we create carries a story of personal growth, resilience, and transformation. Here’s how Hara Makers is making a difference, one product at a time.

Empowering Communities Through Upcycling
Hara Makers collaborates with individuals from marginalized communities, offering them skills training in upcycling techniques. This empowers them to turn discarded materials into valuable products like bags, pouches, and accessories. For many, it’s not just a source of income but a chance to rediscover their potential and rebuild their confidence.
Stories of Transformation

Kak Ita’s Journey: Transitioned from tailoring to weaving
Rohanita, a full-time housewife living in PPR Lembah Subang 2 since 2017, previously did small-scale tailoring but stopped due to eyesight issues. She joined Hara Makers, initially making soap and candles before discovering her passion for weaving plastic waste into useful items.
Through Hara Makers, she learned to weave bags and earn an income, which has significantly improved her financial independence. She now saves and sorts plastic waste, involving her children in recycling efforts. Before joining, she disposed of all waste in bins, but now she recognizes the value of upcycling.
With Hara Makers, Kak Ita not only earns an income but also serves as a facilitator assistant in workshops, meeting new people, and engaging in meaningful activities. She loves sharing her work with friends and inspiring others to see the potential of recycled materials. (More Details)

Kak Nani’s New Path
Haz Maini, a 39-year-old housewife with four children, first learned about Hara Makers two years ago through a friend who invited her to join an upcycling plastic bean bag project. Before joining, she relied entirely on her husband’s salary and had limited financial independence. Since becoming part of Hara Makers, she has been able to earn her own income and buy things without asking for money from her husband.
Previously unaware of recycling, she now actively separates waste and sees the value in repurposing plastics. Her favorite project is making upcycling plastic fabric from plastic materials, as she enjoys the process of cutting and assembling them. She finds it fascinating that what was once considered trash, like candy wrappers, can be transformed into beautiful and useful items such as bags and baskets.
Joining Hara Makers has changed her perspective on waste management. She now separates plastic waste for upcycling instead of throwing everything away. She enjoys sharing her experience with others and encouraging them to see the creative potential of recycled materials. (More Details)
